History of #11 Wilcox Racing Team

Earl and Eric Wilcox grew up in Southington, CT, the oldest and youngest of four children, and the sons of Janet and the late Earl Wilcox, Sr. They were introduced to racing at a young age, and traveled to many tracks with the family, that also included two sisters, Lori and Kristin. They all made many friends across the USA.

At age 7, Earl got his chance and ran a quarter midget at the Silver City Quarter Midget Club out of Meriden, CT , as well as the Custom Club then located in Mystic, CT. He made the Main that year at the Grands in Columbus, Ohio as a Novice, and the next several years brought many accomplishments including Wins and Track Records, as well as being “Driver of the Year” at Silver City. Earl balanced racing with his high school career and was a member of the Varsity Track and Football teams. After serving four years in the U. S. Army, he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University and also achieved an MBA in Business from Northeastern University. Earl is now married to Theresa (an important part of the race team), and resides in De Soto, KS. Because of his love for the sport of Ľ midget racing, his two sons, Adam and Alex, are both now racing out of their home club “TKQMA” in Topeka, KS.

At age 5, it was time for Eric to “get in the seat”. That year, 1978, while his older brother Earl was competing in the Toledo, OH Grands, Eric joined the race team and won the Grands in the Jr. Novice division. Since there was only one Grands at that time, he qualified to be a part of the Hall of Fame in Talladega, and there is a plaque there in his honor. Eric too brought home many wins and awards, including being named “Driver of the Year” at Silver City, and after retiring as a driver, helped handle Erin Crocker who was racing for Earl, Sr. at the time he passed away. It was Erin’s final year before moving on with her racing career, and Eric said he wanted to finish what his father had started. Eric was a member of the Varsity Track and Football teams at Southington High School, and played for the Rugby Team at the University of Connecticut where he graduated with his B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has also earned his MBA in Business. Eric is married to Cheri and lives in Cedar Park, Texas with his two daughters, Leah and Meghan. Leah began her race career in 2006 and has had great success in her first few years of racing. Meghan has also started racing and is enjoying a challenging first year in Jr. Honda racing against her sister.
